Oh, What Do You Do In The Summertime?

I love that children's song because it reminds me to take
time to enjoy the summer.  Its days are fleeting and will pass
me by if I don't plan for them.  Just like summer quickly
passing by, my grandchildren are rapidly growing up and
soon this precious time we have together will be replaced by friends,
sports, and other things.

So today was another "Grandma" day.  My son had to
work and I got to spend the day with my granddaughter,
picking her up at her other grandmother's after I got off
work this morning.

A picnic lunch was served on the patio and then we enjoyed
a little playtime in the sandbox where my little "chef" prepared
the most amazing and delectable offerings from "Italian
Meatballs and Spaghetti" to "Strawberry Cake topped with
cream and a cherry" plus "raspberry muffins" and more!

Plans had been made earlier to pick up her cousin, my
grandson, and go to the matinee of "How To Train Your
Dragon", an absolutely delightful movie (which we had
seen a few months previously).  But that didn't matter.  We
all loved it more the 2nd time...It was just the idea of spending
a lovely afternoon together.

After the movie it was home to their families!
My day was a little richer for the fun, silly, giggly
time we shared!  We must plan another "Grandma"
day soon before summer passes us by.

  Love these grandchildren!

  1. Oh, Nola, plan LOTS of them. What adorable children. Glad you were able to spend some time with them. I'll have to check out that movie. ~karen

  2. What adorable grandkids! I'll bet you had fun just spending time with them - they are richer for that experience too, nothing like spending the afternoon with grandma, making memories :o)

I am going to be spending time with three of mine today - going to breakfast, running a few errands, picking out fireworks . . . than should be interesting!

    Have a wonderful 4th Nola!

    Hugs,
    Barb
