That's what my sister-in-law asked when we talked today.
What did I do today?
Went school shopping with my daughter and her boys.
Can't believe it is time to start thinking "School". I'm
still back somewhere in June. But, we have found that if
you don't get in on the sales early, you miss out. We
picked up pencils, glue sticks, marker's, paper, etc. And,
of course, I always need a supply at my house for when the
grandkids come. Then it was off to check sales on pants and
shirts. Great prices but sizes were already limited. Does everyone
wear the same size? Or do stores only stock a limited supply of
the sizes we were looking for.
In between shopping, baby sitting while Mom and son visited
the dentist worked on my BOM that is due Aug 1, and made a few
of these HST. I had seen the tutorial by Missouri Quilt Company on
You-tube for HST and decided that since I had all these 5 inch squares
cut I'd try their method for making the HST. Oh, my! It was so easy
and quick.
In no time at all I had 144 little squares made. Now my problem
is what to make with them? Guess I'll have to thumb through
some quilt magazines for quick and easy ideas. Could do scrappy
pinwheels, bear tracks, churn dash, baskets as they all call for HST.
Hmmmmm
Anyone have suggestions? Maybe give them away? (lol)
It's always so fun to get some new insights.

I love to go school shopping! Even though I don't have kids at home anymore, I still like to get in on the bargains! And, I do think that everyone must wear the same size, because they are always out of mine - very frustrating! The HSTs are very pretty - there are probably hundreds of good ideas to use them with - I personally think that quilted bags are wonderful! Hey, I was the babysitter while my daughter went to the dentist today also - small world - cute kids!

Love your blocks, I watch Missouri Quilt Co. they have great tutorials...
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to try out Missouri Quilt Co, tutorial on making HST's. I think you have given me the courage to do it. LOL (Their company is only about 40-50 miles from me, but I haven't made it there yet.) You can always join the charm square quilt along. I have a little box on the right side of my blog that you can click on and find out more about it. Sounds like you had a good day with your daughter and grandson. I have picked up a few of the back to school supplies also. Have a great day. Winona
