Pre-Christmas Gifts

The tradition of giving a small gift as a pre-Christmas present was started by my Mother years ago and my sister and I have carried this on with our families.  The simple gifts are often given at the end of our Thanksgiving celebration or the first of December.

One thing I have done since my grandchildren were little is give them a Christmas ornament.  I try to find something that depicts their interests or hobbies.

It is always fun shopping and trying to find just the right ornament.  Another tradition is giving them a Chocolate Countdown Calendar.  This year I almost decided they were getting to old for the calendars, but my daughter reminded me that it was a "tradition" and that the kids would be disappointed if they didn't receive one.

A few years ago, I also made place mats for each of the grandchildren.  Using a "snowman" font, I embroidered each of their names.  Each snowman depicted a letter in their name.

This is always a much anticipated activity with my family, one that we all look forward to.
