FOR TODAY...Thursday, November 4, 2010
Outside my window... It is one of those days that you just
don't want to be inside. The sky is absolutely clear and
such a beautiful blue. The trees are still changing color
although more golds and browns now. The temperature
is very mild. I must enjoy it for the next few days as the
weatherman is predicting snow the first part of the week.
I am thinking... What a beautiful fall we have had. So
nice after the rainy, cold spring. The weatherman said
we are now in Indian Summer because we have had our
first frost.
I am thankful for.. A son who is so handy with home
repairs and has been able to help save me a little money
by not hiring a repairman when I needed some help.
A thought I am sharing... "We each have to walk through
life on our own, but no one should have to do it alone."
...Sherry Dew
From the kitchen..."Wendy's Chili". A friend shared the
recipe with me and whether it is really Wendy's, I don't
know. But, what I do know is that we love it.
I am wearing... Levi's, socks (almost too warm on my feet)
pink striped shirt.
I am creating... Shoe boxes full of different size squares from
the baskets of scraps downstairs. What I will do with them,
I have no idea.
I am going... To work in my yard this afternoon and try and
get the rest of the flowers pulled out that need to go and
even do a little weeding. Too nice to stay in the house!
I am reading... Nothing right now.
I am hoping... To get some stitcheries traced later today
so I can sit in the evening and stitch.
I am hearing...The outdoors calling to me. So I need to
finish up and head out there while it is still sunny and
warm.
Around the house... Sunlight streaming through the
windows reminding my I need to get them washed.
One of my favorite things... Pumpkin cake with chopped
walnuts and yummy frosting.. My mother
always made it in a jelly roll pan and was a favorite of
my father's. It seemed fall was about the only time
she made it.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
yard work,
house cleaning
cutting more squares and even a few more pillow cases
Get tires on car rotated and new wipers
Enjoy the out doors.
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
Sunset last weekend. I don't think I've seen such a
beautiful and colorful sunset as this was in sometime.
The colors were brilliant and constantly changing.
The first picture was taken as I was coming from our
Halloween Mystery Dinner Party and I stopped by
the Jr. High School as I was afraid it would be gone
by the time I got to the ponds.
The street was pretty crowded with people and cars
as I think everyone knew down by the ponds would
afford the best view. It was great to park there and
just enjoy!
Have a happy Thursday,
Nola

... and hope you have a lovely day and weekend too.... lovely pics and sounds like you will be in the garden lots....

Sounds lovely. Happy Thursday to you to.
ReplyDeleteHi Nola!
ReplyDeleteWow, it seems like it's been forever since I've been on your blog! I am also loving these mild Autumn days, but, I'm a little afraid of what's coming, so I'll take the nice weather any day...:0)
My sister makes the "Wendy's Chili", and it is delicious! Isn't it funny how we love the food that our moms cooked? The pumpkin cake sounds so good . . . comfort food. I love walnuts! My husband is allergic to them so we don't even have them in the house, so I eat them whenever I get a chance!
Your sunset pictures are gorgeous!! I always feel so blessed when I get the opportunity to capture mother nature working her magic . . . so beautiful!
Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog - I also feel blessed to have made such sweet friends through blogging - you are one of them sweet girl. Have a wonderful week-end.
Hugs,
Barb
