Rain, Sleet and Snow

Winds brought our winter storm in right on time today
showering us with rain, sleet and finally snow.  Temperatures
took quite a drop and we found ourselves cranking up the
heat. This foretaste of winter made me want to hibernate
in my sewing room for the day.  And, after making some
Creamy Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner this evening, that's
exactly what I did.

For some time now I have been wanting to try a "string" block
so decided this was the day.  Pulled out some of my old
Christmas fabrics and started cutting strips.  I was surprised
at how fast these blocks worked up.

Made 10 of these 9.5 inch blocks today and am thinking that
they will either be made into a bed runner, a table topper or
a table runner.

Also worked on my "Winter Wishes" stitchery from
Shell

I am loving this variegated thread and the look it gives
to the snowflake.  Can't wait to finish this so I can
start on one for me as this one is a Christmas gift.

Perhaps it is good to have a little stormy weather as it
keeps me inside and reminds me that Christmas is not
far off and I still have lots to do.

Happy snowy day!

  1. You just gave me a great idea. I ahve always wanted quilt for all the season but I thought where do you put them and how much work. But a bed runner I like. So if I make bed runners to match my bedspread in each season this cpuld be cute and less wor. Thanks for the great info.

  3. Nola, great idea for the Christmas fabric!! Sherry, you are right about that!! May steal your idea! When I go shopping next, I'm going to pick up some variegated floss (that's hard to spell!). I'm relatively new at embroidery, but love it! ~karen
