my quilt that has been sitting here for a couple of months.
I am very happy how it turned out and love the scrappy
look. Each time I look at it on my bed...
...I notice different pieces and am reminded of my
business and wonder how many people still have items
made from these fabrics in their homes. I'm sure most are
long gone as it has been awhile and colors and styles change.
Am still debating whether to use it as a quilt quilt or as
a bedspread. If I use it as a bedspread will need to
make some throw pillows. However, I worry that the
sun will fade it if it is not covered up. Oh, what to do,
what to do.
My Sunbonnet Sue block is almost finished. Just need to
decide what to put in her hand. The original pattern had a
yoyo flower. But, I think she needs something a little
Christmasy. Any suggestions?
Was very surprised to see this same idea at the little quilt
shop when I stopped by to grab something this morning.
The 9-patch and vertical strips and center were smaller.
They had just used 4 different squares for the center.
Had to wonder if they saw this in the same quilt magazine
and just changed the sizes a little. Found the pattern
in the "Quiltmaker" magazine, March/April 1997
edition.
Got a call from a friend this morning. Had dropped off a
bag of left-over scraps last week for her to use in their
quilting group. They do humanitarian quilts and get
together each week to tie them. She made me so happy
when she said they would be able to get a 72x90 inch
quilt out of them.
I've also been busy cutting squares of varying sizes. Am
not sure what I will do with them, but I now have three
shoe boxes full and still doesn't seem like I've made a dent
in the baskets. Maybe, I'll just start sewing them together
and get some quilt tops done. Just need some motivation!
Have a happy November 1. Can you believe it's November
already?

ReplyDeleteWonderful quilt, Nola! Another finish and a great accomplishment! Sunbonnet Sue came out just adorable. I think a candy cane would compliment her very nicely, or maybe a candle?
