Happy New Year!

I can't believe another year is upon us.  I feel like time is
racing by and leaving me in the lurch.  This really hit
home to me recently as my sister and I were working
on our father's history.

I recalled a little story I had written about him
and posted a while back...or so I thought. Searching
through published posts, I was unable to find it for 2011.
Well, then it must have been in 2010.  No, it wasn't there
either.

Surely it couldn't be further back!  Yes, it could!
In fact in was written on October 9, 2009 and posted
on my other blog, which at the time was private
for family and friends only.  I was absolutely in
shock that it had been that long ago.  It really seemed
like yesterday to me.

Am I just getting older (yes) and slower (yes).  This
tells me that one of my priorities this year is to get
these histories of my parents completed. There are
three grandchildren that carry my father's name
and we need to get this completed so they will know
where their names came from and the good things
about their great grandfather.

My goal is to spend a few hours each week working
on family histories and bringing photo albums, etc. up
to date.  Who knows I may even get to the books I
purchased a few years ago for my grandchildren,
"Grandmother Remembers---a written heirloom for
my grandchildren."

This was one of my goals to complete these books and
histories when I completed my cancer treatments and is
now one of my sister's since she has suffered her heart
attack and is struggling with her health.
Between the two of us encouraging one another this
will hopefully become a reality.

Be well and keep safe,

Nola

  1. That sounds like a wonderful goal for the New Year... And something that will be enjoyed for years to come. The older you get the faster the years do seem to fly by. Our oldest grandaughter will be 15 in March and I can't believe that! Enjoy you day, Kim C

  2. It will be such a blessing in your life to complete the histories. I did my parents history just before my mother passed away. I made copies but then decided to do a blog of the history so it is more assessible to grandchildren. I am doing the same thing with my husbands parents. The blogs can then be printed into a book.
Blessings to you and enjoy doing the histories.

  3. Sometimes life just gets in the way. Projects get put aside for 'another day', but when they are resumed, it's with more 'vim and vigor'. Have fun!!

  4. Hi Nola!

What a wonderful goal! In DUP, we have set a goal to write at least one history this year, so you have inspired me! We truly are not getting any younger, and the older I get, the more forgetful I become - so I better get busy!

    Hugs,
    Barb
