Sprucing Up The Living Room!

We had snow last evening and when I woke this morning everything
was so pretty and clean-looking that it made me want to clean.  So,
after snow blowing the drive and sidewalks, sewing a few more
flying geese blocks for my table topper, decided it was time to dig
in.

By then, the sun was shining in the window and it gave me the lift
I needed to get busy.  Moved all the furniture around in the living
room, mopped the baseboards, wiped down the walls, vaccumed
the rug and furniture, and polished the all the accent pieces.

It looks and smells clean and fresh!  Will have to wait another day
to do the curtains when my daughter can help me.  Windows, too,
must wait as we are going to get  more storm, possibly in the form
of rain, next week.

At Christmas I received a package in the mail from my friend,
Barb.  (You can find her wonderful blog here:)
http://sweetheartsinlife.blogspot.com
And, this is what was inside:  This beautiful crocheted
doily she had made.  I LOVE doilies and have them all around
my home.  Isn't it beautiful!

I had the perfect table for it and couldn't wait until
Christmas was taken down and put away so I could
use it.

I desperately needed some bright and cherry flowers
to break up the grayness of the outdoors.  So I dug
out this arrangement and it is just perfect.  When I
get my Valentines box out I will add a few more things
to the table, but for now I just want to enjoy this
beautiful doily.  Thank you so much, Barb.

Loving the sunshine!

  1. What a coincidence...I have a doily just like that on a table that looks exactly like that too. Isn't that funny!

  3. Hi Nola!

Isn't it wonderful when the sun shines! I told my husband this morning that I can't wait to mow the lawn - I must be very desperate for some warm weather!

The doily looks beautiful on your pretty table - I'm so glad you like it - I love them too, and have them all over! I also love the wonderful "mug-rug" that you gave me! I put it right by my big comfy chair - it's perfect...:0) I have to tell you something funny - the other day my little grandson brought my mug-rug upstairs and was using it to cover up his farm animals - he said they were cold! It was just the right size, I couldn't bear to take it away from him!

I really need to do some deep cleaning around my house - I sure wish the sun would shine and give me some ambition!

    Have a wonderful week-end!!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  5. Nola, the doily is beautiful. Reminds me of my grandmas. They were always crocheting doilies. I have made a few in my time, but don't really have the patience. My oldest daughter makes them, though. She take after her great-grandmas. (grin) Good job on getting everything clean. Now where is spring? LOL Have a good weekend.

  7. Hi Nola, I wanted to tell you that my mom had a table just like yours and even had a doily on it most of the time. One of my grandmothers had made it. She sewed and tatted and crocheted and I used to watch her when I was very young, before I was at all interested in sewing.
