Simple woman's Daybook

For today...June 15, 2010

Outside my window...  Sun is shining (finally), there is a
light south wind blowing, and everything is looking so green,
colorful and fresh from the past weeks rain.

I am thinking...  How fun it was to learn and make a new
project today.  Thanks, JoAnn!

I am thankful for...  The rain we have had and that the
strong East winds we had Saturday did not damage
our home, etc.  However, lots of limbs and leaves to clean up.
Also, that it has been awhile since we've had East Winds.

I am wearing...  Green capri's, white tee shirt and flip flops.
(What no levi's!)

I am remembering...  The frustration I have felt recently while
trying to make a new project.   (More about that later)

I am going...  To work in my garden later this evening after
dinner.

I am currently reading...  "Take Two" by Karen Kingsbury.

I am hoping...  To finish my "frustrating" project tomorrow.

On my mind...  Father's Day.  What to get for my son's.
Always like to give them a little remembrance.

Noticing that...  My Caspia is in full bloom and how pretty the
lavender color is.  Need to pick some and dry it before the
blossoms are completely open.

Pondering these words...  "We...tend to evaluate others on the
basis of physical, outward appearance:  their "good looks," their
social status, their family pedigrees, their degrees, or their
economic situations.
"The Lord, however, has a different standard by which he
measures a person,...He does not take a tape measure around the
person's head to determine his mental capacity, nor his chest to
determine his manliness, but He measures the heart as an indicator of the
person's capacity and potential to bless others."   Marvin J. Ashton.

From the kitchen...  Oriental Chicken Salad from Applebee's.
A friend dropped off left-overs from work.  Yummy!  And on
top of that NO COOKING!

Around the house...  Noticing that I haven't taken my
fabric purchases to the sewing room yet.  Today JoAnn
and I found several fat quarters that will be perfect for
Lynette Anderson's Scandinavian Christmas project.

One of my favorite things...  Having my windows open,
feeling the cool breeze that blows through, listening to the
songs of various birds that visit my yard.

I am wishing that...  It was not the middle of June
already!
A few plans for the rest of the week...
1.  Finish my "frustrating" project.
2.  Work on my patriotic table topper
3.  Cut more square from all my scraps
4.  Sew binding on my quilt
5.  Take time to enjoy these quickly passing
summer days
6.  Lunch with friends

From my picture journal...

This cute little guy was part of the table decorations
for our "Scatter Sunshine" evening at the church
last week.  I was lucky enough to have my name
drawn and to bring him home after our evening of
sharing a light dinner and working on pillowcase
dresses.  I think when all of them are completed
there will be about 110 dresses.

  1. Hi Nola!

Love your daybook! We finally got sunshine - right before the storm! But, enough that it made me feel like summer was just around the corner.

I have so many projects to finish - they can get very frustrating, good luck with yours.

I love the quote from Marvin J. Ashton - it is so true - we all need to judge from the heart. I have a little granddaughter who is blind, and I often think that her way of choosing friends will be totally different from most of us - in a good way. She is such a blessing in my life - she loves me for me.

I am so impressed by the pillowcase dresses - 110! Such a cute table decoration, sounds like you had a fun night.

Take care, enjoy the sunshine while it last - soon the leaves will be changing!

Did you change your background - I like it!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  2. Hi Nola, just love it when you post your daybook so I can see what's up. We finally got some sunshine, too, but it only lasted a couple of days. ~karen
