that have been sitting around for ages. Several only need a
block or two, others more blocks, borders, etc. Today
while down stairs working I pulled out a drawer that contained
"butterfly" blocks that either need to be finished or donated
to a cause.
I started these blocks a few years back and would add to them
every once in awhile until the blue check fabric was mostly
used up. I needed to decide on another blue that would
mix nicely with what I already had and just never seemed
to get around to it.
Today I pulled them out and decided to lay the blocks
out and see how close I was to completing the top.
There were not enough for the 63 x 90 quilt, but I
could make a nice cuddle quilt with what I had. So,
that's what I'm going to do.
Feels so good to have made a decision and move forward.
Am thinking perhaps I need to do more simplifying with
some of my quilting projects.

Good for you!!! lovely quilt blocks and a neat arrangement you have there!! and I know that sometimes we spend more energy and time in trying to make a decision on something than if we just did it!!!

Hi Nola!
ReplyDeleteYou are my hero! I love that you are simplifying - I need so badly to do the same thing!
I love the quilt - it will make a great little cuddler for you and all your cute little grands...:0)
I have two old quilts that were my grandmothers, in fact one of them was my great-grandmothers. They need some work done on them, but I'm just not sure how to begin, and wonder if I even should. One of them is missing a few squares or pieces, the batting is very old; the back has been replaced (probably more than once) and it is pretty fragile. The other one just need maintenance, a few little patches here and there. One day....sigh.....
Keep up the good work!
Hugs,
Barb
I forgot to tell you how much I love your new background!!
ReplyDeleteA cuddle quilt will be perfect for this project. It will give you a finish, you'll feel good about it, and that will inspire you to move on to yet another UFO. Hope you are having a great week, Nola. ~karen
ReplyDeleteCute butterflies flying in that blue sky! I'm trying to work on some catching up and finishing up too. So many quilts, so little time. lol
ReplyDeleteI agree Nola! Much better to get it finished as a smaller version than to leave it sitting hoping to finish the larger version someday! It's very pretty! :0)
ReplyDeleteEveryone is starting the New Year out with a bang...just love your simplifying...
