Spent the last couple of days going through old slides of my husbands. He loved taking pictures of mountains scenes, flowers, family trips, etc. After he passed, I got rid of a lot of slides that were just scenes he had taken while traveling through Europe that were not identified and didn't have any significance to the family.
Now the ones I am sorting through are of family times as well as mountains, flowers, streams, seasons, etc. I am saving all the family pictures and will take them to our Family History Center to be put on a thumb drive. Then I will make pictures for his nieces and nephews that he has taken of times together when they were little. I'm not sure if they have any, but I think they will enjoy them. Some I will add to his book that I made for him at his passing. The others of our family I will go through photo books to see if we have them and also check with my children to see if there are any they would like to have. I'm hoping to finish going through the carousels by next week. It will be nice to have this done as I notice that some of the slides are fading and not as vibrant as they once were.
Also spent a few days last week getting ready for our Valentine's Party. I wasn't sure I was going to do one, but when my youngest grandson asked if "Grandma"
was going to do one, I knew I had to. We have so much fun and of course, the kiddo's go home loaded down with sugar!

Somehow through all the pictures, I missed one of my SIL. Will have to make sure he's included in the next party which will be our Easter Party.

you are doing well with the sorting... good idea to get the ones to keep on a thumb drive. looks like a good party was had...

Thanks and sorry to be slow responding, but somehow life took over for a few days. We really did have fun at the party and I treasure these times because I know there may not always be times we can be together.
DeleteHi Nola~
ReplyDeleteYou are so good to have the ambition to clean stuff out! It's so cold here, that all I want to do is snuggle under a warm blanket. Going through photos is one of the hardest things, but I am so thankful the the Family History Center and all of their wonderful equipment! My father was like you husband, always taking photos of mountains and clouds, while he was flying, and of people he traveled with for work, who we didn't know. So many of his photos had to be thrown away.
Your party looks like so much fun! I can't believe how big your grands are getting! The candy bar looks like fun, who doesn't like candy bars
We are taking it kinda slow right now, trying to get through these nasty freezing cold days :0)
Have a wonderful week-end!
Hugs and Love,
Barb
Thanks for visiting Barb. I am slow getting back to you. Seems like life had me going in a different direction for a few days. It has been hard to throw out Leonard's slides because it was something he did that brought him great pleasure, but sadly we had to say goodbye because we too, didn't know areas, etc. Saw pictures of your sweet family gathering with your granddaughter preparing for her mission. This will be such a wonderful experience for her and all of you. Wish her the very best.
DeleteI have enjoyed your party posts throughout the years, Nola. Your grands will remember them all of their lives, and hopefully continue this fun tradition with their families. Way to make memories!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen. I hope they will remember the good times we had. Was so happy that Ty wanted to do a party and now we are planning Easter. Loved the pictures of the quilts you posted. I love going to the quilt shows and am always amazed at the talent that is out there. Glad you could go.
