Deena's Baptism

I love being with family and celebrating special
occasions and today was one of those times.  My
nephews eight year old daughter, Deena, was
baptized by her father.   She is such a sweet little
girl.

Was a little concerned when I awoke to snow
this morning as we had to drive to Lehi and be
there by 9:00 a.m.  So grateful my SIL was
driving as the freeway was not in the best
condition.  But, we did make it down and
back safely.

After the baptism at the Stake Center, we all
went back to David and Jenna's for brunch.
Because turning eight is such a special time,
Deena was pampered with many gifts to
help remind her of this important step she
has taken---being baptized a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

My daughter and I wanted to do something a
little different for her, so we went on Pinterest
and looked up "lds baptismal gifts" and found
these two ideas:

We used a cute white decorated sack to hold
the candy.

The other gift was a "baptismal pillowcase" (which
I made for her) with a poem:

She loved the candy and the pillowcase!

While visiting with family and taking pictures
after the baptism, I was able to get a picture of just
my sister and me.  We haven't had one taken of
just the two of us for a few years, so I was very
happy to get this one:

I am so blessed to have her as my sister and
dear, dear friend.  Her health has not been the
best the last couple of years, so I am very
grateful she is still here and for that matter
that I am too.

  2. It sounds like it was a wonderful event. I think it is awesome that you made her a pillowcase. I will have to look up Pinterest for ideas; we have a grandson that will be baptized in March.
    Blessings and hugs!
