A Christmas meme...

I must admit that when I read Barb's Blog I had to look up the work "meme" as I had no idea what it meant.  Once I figured it out, thought what a great idea this was and so I've jumped on the band wagon.  You might also check out  The Farmer's Daughter and Sand Flat Farm, they are both so fun!

1. Hot Chocolate or Apple Cider?
I am definitely a hot chocolate person.

2. Turkey or Ham?
Now that is a toss up.  Think I favor ham a little more.

3. Do you get a fake or real-you-cut-it-yourself Christmas tree?
I have a fake tree. Debated about getting a live one this year but ended up with the same fake tree
we've used for years.  Do miss the fragrance of a live tree though.

4. Decorations on the outside of your house?
This is the first year I haven't put up lights, but I do have some decorations on the door.

5. Snowball fights or sleddin’?
I love sleddin'.  However, it  has been years since I've been, but seems we always have a little snowball
fight with the grandkids.

6. Do you enjoy going downtown shopping?
  NO.

7. Favorite Christmas song?
"I  Heard The Bells On Christmas Day".  Really enjoy all Christmas music.

8. How do you feel about Christmas movies
Love Christmas movies, especially the old version of "The Bishop's Wife."

9. When is it too early to start listening to Christmas music?
November 1.  The radio stations start playing it here that early.  I love Christmas music, but do not enjoy hearing total Christmas music until after Thanksgiving.

10. Stockings before or after presents?
Don't do socks anymore. However, when the kids were younger that was always the first thing they
wanted to check out Christmas morning.

11. Go to someone else’s house or they come to you?
We alternate years.

12. Do you read the Christmas Story? If so when?
Christmas Eve.  We used to dress the kids up and they loved it.  One year my sister made silhouettes of
the nativity and attached them to wooden dowels.  We turn the lights off and only have a light reflecting the silhouette on the wall.  Lots of fun.

13. What do you do after presents and dinner?
Relax!  Visit and play with toys, etc.

14. What is your favorite holiday smell?
Cinnamon, spicey smell.  Also love the smell of fresh pine!

15. Ice skating or walking around the mall?
If I could ice skate that would be my choice.  Don't really enjoy walking around the mall.

16. Do you open a present or presents on Christmas Eve, or wait until Christmas day?
We open presents Christmas morning.  When the children were little they would line up while their
father would turn on the tree lights and start a fire in the fireplace.

17. Favorite Christmas memory?
I have many wonderful memories, but one I recall is sitting at the kitchen table eating dinner when Santa burst through the door much to the shock and astonishment of our family.  We certainly weren't expecting a visit from the dear old gentleman.  The kids were startled, but also delighted that Santa would stopby.  Santa said he was just checking to see if they were being good and obeying their parents.  The children's behavior certainly stayed on the good side after that visit...at least until Christmas!  Before he left he gave each one a candy cane, then wished us a Merry Christmas and disappeared out the door.

18. Favorite Part about winter?
Being in doors and watching large fluffy snowflakes falling and knowing I don't have to be out in it.  Winter
is probably my least favorite season.

19. Ever been kissed under mistletoe?
Of course!!

Warm hugs,
Nola

I loved it! I love finding out more about my friends - we do have lots in common!

I can't imagine the shock when Santa burst in! What a fun story! I'm sure it is one that will passed on through the generations of grandchildren... :0)

A toasty fire on Christmas morning sounds wonderful!

Thank you so much for sharing - so much fun!

    Hugs,
