Don't Know About These Plaids!

Several years ago my daughter and I purchased a group
of plaid flannels to make a quilt we saw pictured in a
quilt magazine.  The years slipped by and we never
got around to it.

Today seemed like a good day to preshrink the flannel,
press and cut it into squares.  They will now become a
cozy quilt for my son to use when watching TV, etc.
He has hinted rather strongly that he would like a
new and larger quilt for Christmas as the lap quilt I
made him a few years ago just doesn't quite cut it
anymore.

Laid them all out on the floor this afternoon and
am really struggling with the look of all the
different plaids.  The quilt in the magazine looked
so cute, but for some reason I don't "love" these
as much as I did a few years ago.  Guess I will let it
sit for a day or so before sewing them together.

With My Little Eye----

With my little eye I spy SNOW!  Rain here in the valley
but snow about 3/4 of the way down the mountains to
the east of me.  The weather man said there could be
snow dropping down to about 6,000 feet and he was
right.  Very cool temperatures today.  It's hard to
go from mid 80's to the mid 40's in a 24 hour period.

But, I did get a few things accomplished after work
today:

The blocks I had previously pieced were sewn together
and borders added for a table runner.  Now just need to
figure out what to do for the backing.  Am thinking
I'll pull some fall fabrics from my stash and piece them
together.

Halloween stitchery completed and framed:

Oh, here comes the rain again!  At least it held off
long enough for the kids at Davis High to hold
their Homecoming Parade a hour ago.

Hope you're having better weather today wherever
you might be.

I'm off to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate!

What Do You Do When It Rains?

Rainy Days make good days for sewing and baking and
that's just what I did today.

My daughter and grandson's stopped by to do some
"stampin" while I baked pumpkin cookies and made
potato soup that we could share for dinner this evening.
Great comfort food for a rainy day!

Using 5 inch charm squares was able to cut and sew
the blocks for one more fall project this afternoon.
Am hoping I can sew them together after work
tomorrow.

Traced this stitchery last fall, but never got it
stitched.  My goal is to have it finished and framed
by the end of the week so we can enjoy it before
Halloween has come and gone again.

The weatherman is forecasting more rain and cooler
temperatures (about 30 degree drop) for the rest of the
week, so maybe I will meet my goals.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

What Is It?

Is it a trick or treat bag?
Is it a pillow case?

That is the question posed by my grandchildren
when they opened their surprise gifts this
evening as we all gathered together for dinner.

A few weeks ago I made Halloween pillowcases for
three of my grandchildren to enjoy through the month
of October.  Ty, still being too small for a pillow,
received a little bear in a pumpkin costume to cuddle
and love.

I suppose by the time the "big" night arrives, the
pillow cases will make the perfect "trick or treat"
bag.  One can never have too big of a bag for all
that candy!

Think they were excited to go home and try out
their new pillowcases.  At least that's what they
told Grandma!

Can't believe tomorrow is October 1st with our
temperature at 91F today.  Happy October!

Finished!

Today has been a productive day organizational wise.
Spent a good part of the day after work cleaning out
and organizing a storage area in preparation for winter.
It really looks good and I even made up a spread sheet
listing everything and hung it on the wall.  So now, I
don't have to rummage through everything to find
what I want or need.  It's all there on paper! (and
shelves)

I'm excited to have my Halloween quilt finished...
before October 1st...and ready to hang.  Really like
how it turned out.

Can you pick out the pumpkins and bats quilted
in the border?

Couldn't resist this lively fabric for the back.

Tonight I think I'll relax and do a little stitching
on Kaaren's   FFF, "September Song."

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Yummy Fall Treat!

Fall and anything "pumpkin" go hand in hand for me.
Love anything made with pumpkin. So when I found
this recipe for "Pumpkin Snickerdoodles" on Laura's
blog post 9/24, I knew we had to give it a try.  Today
was the day and they are yummy! This recipe is
definitely a keeper.

Spent the afternoon (in between baking cookies)
working on this:

Hope to have it all bound by tomorrow so I can
hang it  Friday.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A Little Finish

It's hard to believe we're into fall when the temperatures
outside are in the mid 80's.  But, I'm not complaining!
I know it won't last. The leaves on the mountains are
changing and I love seeing the red's beginning to appear.

It does get me excited to finish up fall projects so they
can be enjoyed before it's time for Christmas.  Today
I was able to finish this little "pumpkin" stitchery.

My Halloween quilt is all quilted so I will pick it
up tomorrow and should have the binding done in
a couple of day.

Slowly, but surely I'm making progress, but it is
at the expense of all my other projects.  Come winter
when the days are cold and snowy I'll be able to
spend time working on them.  Just wish I could get
ahead of the changing seasons.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
