Saturday was a busy, but fun day! Up bright and early for
BOM class then home to finish my "hearts" wall hanging,
make cookie dough and get things ready for my daughter
and her boys to come over and play. Thought it would be
fun to make "Valentine" cookies early as they'll be doing
it as a family this coming weekend and it isn't nearly as
fun making them by myself. We had a great, messy
time!
The boys floured, rolled the dough, cut out hearts
of all shapes and sizes and tasted the dough to make
sure it was ok!
Cookies baked and cooled, it was now time to frost and
decorate them which requires intense concentration!
Spreading frosting over the entire cookie and not getting
any on your fingers is an art, but not nearly as much
fun!
The best part or the second or third best part of making
and decorating cookies is eating them. As you can see
my grandson's did a great job of cutting, baking, and
frosting our cookies. And there were plenty to share
and take home!
What a joy it is to have my grandchildren close by and
be able to share these memorable times together!
This picture does not really do justice to my heart table
topper. This was really fun to make and oh, so easy!
Purchased the pattern at my local quilt shop but it is
from A Quilt Woman.com Company, Straight to the
Point Series, "Hearts". Sewing in straight rows and
then cutting, resewing into "on point settings" is so
simple and easy. Really worked up fast!
This is my completed project from Stina,
The pictures are not very good, sorry to say! They
are a little dark. I have this hanging in my kitchen
and it makes me "smile" every time I look at it. Such
a fun project. Thanks for sharing Stina!
Close up view of one of the heart blocks. And below
how it looks hanging on the wall. Shelf display is
not completed yet, but the shelf frames the wall hanging
perfectly.
Thought I'd share pictures of other Valentine Wall hangings
I've made the past couple of years. This is one of the first
projects I did after completing my cancer treatments. It
felt so good to have the energy and stamina to create
something once again.
This was made from scraps left from other projects.
Now it's on to other projects. Always happy to have
something waiting in the wings.
