A Little of This and That

These last few days have been so frustrating.  Got my
computer back and as I mentioned we were up and
running.  Then something happened to the modem and I
was told I would have to get a new one.  Decided to
think about it---and have been thinking since Friday.
Well, last evening the modem went from red to green.
Power was back on and my internet was once again
working.  Don't know why or what happened but I
will not be getting a new modem for now.

Then my sweet little furnace that has worked itself to
death this winter with the cold temperatures, kept
shutting off.  Called my neighbor who installs furnaces
and AC for a living to check it out.  He has been
back four times, cleaning, replacing parts, etc.  It is
running again and keeping us nice and warm.  We are
hoping that what he did will suffice and money will
not have to be laid out for a new furnace.

Needless to say, I haven't been getting much done.
Did lose 2 more pounds which is unusual for me prior
to losing all this weight.  Normally, I would have
put on two pounds or more with nervous eating.  So
maybe this life change is working.

I visited with my Oncologist this last week and I think
I shocked him when he saw me out in the waiting area.
It was actually fun to see his expression of delight and
disbelief that it was me.  He has encouraged me for so
long to drop this weight.  He was so proud of me but
told me I needed to level out and that he didn't want
me to lose any more weight!  Never had a doctor tell
me that before!

Enough complaining!  I fully intended to just share a
couple more Easter projects that I made:

Found this cute stitchery here:
http://www.thenoblewife.com
Made four of them for family and a friend.

I loved stitching these eggs for friends and family
also.  Not sure where this came from so I can't
give credit to the designer.  Forgot to take a picture of
the one I sent my sister.  The egg is all flowers and
you can find the pattern here:

Today while at the nursery getting soil prep for my
garden I found this and thought it would be so cute
to hang a small quilt from on the hooks.  Now I have
to find a simple little quilt.  I want to do it in
bright colors.  Anyone have a suggestion as to what
I might do?

Well, I've rattled on long enough.  Best  get dinner
going.  Have a great day!

We're Up and Running Again!

What a long week or so this has been without my computer.
I lost my hard drive and had to have it replaced and it has
been really difficult.  Everything I do is on my computer.
Although I have a tablet, it isn't the same.  I lost all my
bookmarks and so now I am trying to recall those things I
had marked---most of them to check out when I had more
time.

I suppose if there was one good thing about not having
my computer it was that I spent more time doing things
I needed to.  It is so easy to lose track of time when I'm
on my computer. Those long, dreary winter evenings
were certainly time stealing moments at the computer.

One thing I was able to do was complete this stitchery for
a dear friend whose cancer has returned and is just starting
her second round of chemo.  It has been very difficult
for her and she has been quite ill.  My hope is that this
saying from Psalms will be a comfort to her.

After I find my photo program that allowed me to crop,
etc., I will be able to post some more pictures.

I look forward to catching up with everyone and seeing
all the wonderful things you have been working on.

After How Many Years???

It is done!  After how many years?  I'm not really sure
when I purchased this "Bunny Table Runner" kit.
I'm pretty sure it has been sitting in a drawer for at
least six years or more.  It is one of the items I pulled
when working on my sewing room.

At one point, I must have had good intentions of
sewing it, because some of the pieces were already
cut out.  I love the polka dots and the purples,
greens, yellows and pinks.  The bunnies make me
happy.  Love their great big smiley faces!

There are still have two more kits that need to be
made up----another table runner and a pillow with
three adorable bunnies.  Not sure if they will get
done this year or not as I am working on some
other Easter items that will go to family.

It sure is nice to cross one more project off my
list!

Teeny Tears Project

Since the first part of January, some of my friends and I
have been involved in making tiny diapers for
http://www.teenytears.blogspot.com.  It has been quite an
humbling and tender experience to stitch these little diapers.
My heart goes out to the parents who have lost little ones
and I hope in some small way they will know of our
concern and love for them.

This now completes our service project.  We were able
to make a total of 203 sets or 406 individual diapers.  They
are given in a set of two--one for the baby and one for
the parents to keep.

Thank you so much, Laurel, JoAnn, Neala and Candee
for your help.  I couldn't have done it without!  You
guys are the best!

Yummy!

I love zucchini and yellow squash, so when I found
this recipe on Pinterest, I just had to try it.  Made
it for my lunch today using only a small zuchinni.
It was to die for and so filling.  It is definitely a
keeper.  You can find the recipe here:

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY
  Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Outside my window...It is a chilly, beautiful sunny day!  The
air is crisp and everything looks so bright with the sun
reflecting off of the snow.  It makes me happy just looking
out my window.  So much nicer than dreary gray days we've
been having.

I am thinking...How glad I am my daughter and I anonymously
"Heart Attacked" my friend's home yesterday while she was
getting her first chemo treatment.  This is her second round
with cancer.

I filled this little container with life savors and chocolate
hearts.  On top of each piece of candy I taped a small
heart.  Then we left it at the door.

We did her front door and the windows on the front of
her house.  I am glad we did it because she came home
so sick (after 5 hours) and this morning was not feeling
well at all.

I am thankful...for my sweet daughter who is celebrating
her 34th birthday today.

What a blessing she has been in my life and to our family.
She is an amazing and talented and deeply spiritual woman
who is always seeking ways to serve others.  She is a devoted
wife and mother to three precious boys.  I am so honored to
be her mother.  Happy Birthday, my dear daughter!

In the kitchen...Fresh Apple Cinnamon Scones are baking
in the oven.  Found this recipe on Pinterest and am
anxious to see how they turn out.  The aroma is Heavenly!
They're done and I just tried them!  YUMMY!

I am wearing...Levis, long-sleeved tee shirt and fleece vest.

I am creating...A Happy Jar where I keep notes of things
that have made me happy during the day

I am going...To my daughter's for dinner tonight.  We will
celebrate with her brother and his daughter Friday.

I am wondering...How I got so lucky to have been blessed
with three amazing and wonderful children.

I am reading..."Footprints in the Sand" by Mary Jane Clark.

I am hoping...To work on an Easter Table Runner I bought
a few years ago and ran across recently.

I am looking forward to...Going for a walk a little later
and enjoying the sunshine.  I have started doing a little
slow jogging recently with my walk.  I jog for about
a minute and then walk.  It's exciting to think I can do
that now that I've lost a bunch of weight.

I am learning...To eat more healthy.  I'm learning to eat
new and different foods that are healthy that I've stayed
away from in the past and am finding I like them!

Around the house...Valentine decorations that need to be
taken down so I can put up St. Patrick's and Easter.

I am pondering...Ways that I can help my two friends
that are fighting cancer for their second time.

A favorite quote for today...This is really not a quote but
the lyrics from a song I love by the Canadian Tenors:

 Because We Believe
Like stars across the sky
We were born to shine,
All of us because we believe.
Once in very life,
There comes a time,
We walk out all alone,
And into the light.
The moment won't last, but then
We remember it again
When we close our eyes.
Like stars across the sky
We were born to shine
All of us here because we believe.
Like stars across the sky,
We were born to shine.

(I truly believe we were born to shine.)

One of my favorite things...Feeling the sunshine on my face!

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Dinner with my daughter and family tonight
Work tomorrow
Family birthday party here Friday
Work on talk for Sunday
Clean house
Work on Easter stitcheries and table runner

A peek into my day...
Kerri and her favorite stuffed animal, Raja
