I think if I quilt it I will just quilt in the "ditch" of each bock and call it good. Since I won't be doing anything until after Valentine's, I have time to think about it.
February has come in like a lion here and I'm missing the milder days of January. Yesterday we had wind and snow beginning in the middle of the night and continuing throughout the day. We got about 6-8 inches of the white stuff. It was hard to get an accurate measurement with the wind bowing the snow around. Road conditions were terrible and many schools closed or had late starts. Many businesses also opened later in the morning. I was never so happy that I had retired this summer and didn't have to leave the comforts of my home.
We had a short break in the early afternoon and I was able to get out and do a little shoveling. The snow was light and powdery which made it easy to shovel. But, I only got a little ways on my driveway when two of my neighbors came and finished up. I really appreciated their help. They did it so quickly even with the wind blowing the snow around.
Today the sun is shining and it is beautiful out. Temperature has warmed from 14 F to a balmy 25 F. We are supposed to have cold temperatures for a few days and more snow. Can't help but wonder if we are really going to have an early spring.
Helpful neighbors are always so nice. I love that quilt. It is just beautiful! I am wondering now if you are north or south of me. Hope you have a great day. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm north of you in Davis County. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteHi Nola~
ReplyDeleteYour quilt turned out beautiful!! I love the look of hand quilting, it would look really beautiful on that quilt.
Our weather is just horrible! My husband just told me that it had made it to 23 degrees...in the sunshine. We are suppose to get snow tomorrow as well. Tomorrow we are going with Taylor to the temple, and I've been worried about Roger and LeAnn driving here from SLC.
Good neighbors are such a blessing! I'm so glad they they came to your rescue.
Isn't retirement wonderful...you just do what you want!
Enjoy your week!
Hugs and Love,
Barb
I'm glad you all had such a lovely day at the temple. Such a wonderful thing being together. Still up in the air about the quilting, but I guess I have plenty of time to decide since I don't have to rush off to work!
DeleteYour mystery quilt is adorable, Nola! Before you make a decision about quilting it, Nola, check out that big stitch quilting that is trending, to see if it might appeal to you. I don’t envy you having snow and frigid temperatures. Stay warm and safe!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen. I will definitely check out the quilting idea. I don't think I've seen anything done so this might be something fun to try.
DeleteYour quilt top is beautiful, Nola - I love those reds. To me who never gets any, the snow is beautiful - but it does sound like a lot of work and disruption!
ReplyDeleteThe snow is nice but I'll be glad when spring arrives. Today we've had warmer temperatures and lots of rain so the snow is disappearing. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks beautiful. I love how good you are at these kinds of things.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been harsh the first part of the months. I am a bit tired of the clouds and rain. I am glad that there had been a bit more sunshine. It does affect my moods.
Well, I am happy all is well and that you didn't have to go out in it.
Blessings and hugs!
