Memories

This past week I have been  finishing up the last few boxes of slides that my husband has taken over the years.  Sadly, many have been thrown away as he loved taking pictures of flowers, water, mountains, sunrises, sunsets, etc.  Many were only labeled as "Unitah's", "Yellowstone", "Wasatch Mountains", etc.  Because many did not contain family or other things that held meaning to me or my children, they have been thrown away.  Just can't keep everything and need to clean out and bring closure.

Once I had the slides sorted and bagged that I wanted to keep, set up an appointment with The Family History Center and spent time there going through the slides and putting them on a thumb drive.  Now at home, I am putting them into folders on the computer.

Not only did he love photography, but he was an avid snow skier and skied until a couple of years before his passing.  These and some other pictures I found will be made into photo's and added to the book I made for him prior to his death.

I also have a shoe box filled with reel to reel tapes which will be viewed at the Family History Center and those I want to keep will be added to my thumb drive.
I'm hoping they will contain more family activities rather than his outdoor adventures.

It is good to be making progress and fun to reminisce about the good times when the children were small and we did a lot of hiking and camping as well as hanging out with extended family.

  1. Hi Nola~

I'm sure that were just so many bitter-sweet moments going through those slides, that's a hard job! I love the Family History Center! They have so many wonderful machines and computers that sure do make life easier, and your kids will appreciate it so much in the years to come...and now.

Hoping for warmer weather here in Idaho!! Have a great week!

    Hugs and Love,

    1. This has been a little hard to do but it has been good to think back on the good times. What would we do without the Family History Center. It has been such a blessing to be able to go there and do this work. I love all the people there especially the young service missionaries. I'm looking forward to Spring and warmer weather also. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. You’ve been busy! I love how you follow through with your plans. I was just thinking about memories this morning and how quickly the years slip by.

  3. I don't know if I follow through or not, but I just know I have to get this done so I can have closure as well as some empty spaces that are not filled with things. Time definitely has a way of slipping by and the older I get the faster it goes. Can't believe how long it takes me to do things. Thanks for stopping by.
